Fieldwork in Coastal Paraná

These are some of my favorite photos I took in 2025, in the towns of Superagui, Guaratuba, and Ilha do Mel (Paranaguá). I was conducting interviews and observations for my doctoral dissertation entitled "Encoding and Decoding Story, Place, and Self: Towards Situated Environmental Journalism in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest."

 

The coast of Paraná is the land of several communities of Guarani M'byá descent, also the Kaingangue and Xetá peoples, as well as the Rio Verde and Batuva quilombos.
